Powder differences

I don't think so. I scored +30# of the original 5744 in the large kernel form. It was my favorite powder in my 44's. Later it became xmp 5744 in the small kernel form, that doesn't shoot the same IMHO, I switch to BlueDot. Both have the highest content of nitroglycerine content commonly found in canister powder.

Burn rates are close to IMR 4198 but the powders are different. Way long time ago H110 was surplus and wasn't loaded as 296.

Thanks, I have several pounds of 4198 and VV 133 that I shoot in cast bullet rifle loads. It has been an exercise in futility to find XMP 5744 on a store shelf. Sooner or later I will run across a pound to give it a try.

Oddly the one powder that the local Sportsman Warehouse had on the shelf was xm(p)? 5744 during the great powder shortage a while back.

Last month when I went buy they had a fair selection of rifle powder but no shotgun or pistol powder.
