One good thing the Miller decision brought us, was that the 2nd Amendment protects the right to keep and bear military weapons.

...it is interesting to note that the New York Times previously reported that the idea of a class of firearms called "assault weapons" is a piece of fiction the Democrats created in the 1990s. In an article titled, "The Assault Weapon Myth," the NYT explained that Democrats created the phrase "assault weapons" in hopes of stigmatizing an entire category of guns-blaming those guns for rising crime-then banning them.

In the interest of accuracy, let me point out that the NYT article commenting on the origin of the term is wrong. For example, the term "assault weapon" was used by the Marine Corps for certain weapons developed in the 1970s and 1980s, and the closely related term "assault rifle" was used in the gun enthusiast press at least as early as 1967 (e.g. "The World's Assault Rifles & Automatic Carbines (The World's Weapons Series, Vol. 2)" by Musgrave and Nelson).
