The left has been calling the GOP field a clown show for months.

I did not hear Trump's announcement, but him picking up the line is just comical.

He'll not get the Republican nomination and then if he runs as an independent it'll be just like when Ross Perot ran. He'll get enough republicans to vote for him to where It'll put another Clinton in the White House just like when Slick Willie ran against Bush Sr..

He may be singing a different tune today, but as of 2000 and 2012, Trump was a big fan of Governmental Control over firearm choices and purchase.

    http://www.examiner.com/article/past-statements-and-actions-show-donald-trump-wrong-choice-for-gun-owners

'I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today's Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record.'

Source: The America We Deserve, by Donald Trump, p.102 Jul 2, 2000

From a comparison to Huckabee in 2012:

    http://2012.candidate-comparison.org/?compare=Huckabee&vs=Trump&on=Gun-Control

' Trump believes that assault weapons should be banned, "who needs them except criminals and police?"'

he doesn't need all that money. nobody needs that much money except the government, and anybody with that much money can only be up to no good. he needs to turn it over to the government.

He ought to make it fun to watch, but he has little chance IMO. As you pointed out he is a no-go on guns. His announcement was nothing more than a circus though. Hey if I had a couple billion to blow I'd jump and make an ass of myself too!!

That sounds exactly like Obama's share the wealth program. I don't care how much money folks have.. they earned it .. none of anyone's business.

The fact that the comment went over your head aside:

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2011/04/29/fourth-times-a-charm-how-donald-trump-made-bankruptcy-work-for-him/

One could make the argument that some of Trump's money is stolen:

'First things first: Donald Trump has filed for corporate bankruptcy four times, in 1991, 1992, 2004 and 2009. All of these bankruptcies were connected to over-leveraged casino and hotel properties in Atlantic City, all of which are now operated under the banner of Trump Entertainment Resorts. He has never filed for personal bankruptcy - an important distinction when considering his ability to emerge relatively unscathed, at least financially.'

For a man to have filed for Chapter 11 protection 4 times, and not been man enough to cover debt out of his personal wealth is disgusting to me. He should study how Eddie Rickenbacker handled a similar problem.

These bankruptcies and how Trump skated by them is a disqualifier for me. How many mom and pop service providers were stiffed by him?

It is legal. It is also immoral, and it will close the door on any chance he thinks he has.

It shows he can manipulate the system. It shows he will keep his whilst taking from others. Sure he did not make the law, but he did not have to take advantage of it either.

Life is a series of choices. Remember that.

Choices.. He made a large one today. He has a few attorneys are sharp as tacks. Nothing wrong whatsoever how he runs his business' . Just remember how ol' Ross Perot .... he was so stupid.. sold his company to General Motors .. warned the Politicians of that great " Sucking sound " of jobs leaving the U.S.A. and nobody payed attention. Well they should have. He was also a business man.

Trump does not want to be President. He wants to gain publicity of himself. He will spend a little money and poke at the game a while. Eventually he will fade away or drop out.

This is one of the two things he knows how to do well. Self promotion and big real estate.

After that, all he's got left is his hair styling skills.

Sure I remember that s-f. Ross repeated often but as you said, nobody paid attention. Perhaps they do now.

Well, based on his speech he's in to pull the other candidates farther right and beyond that comic relief. However....I would love to see him in a debate with the Hildabeast.

Every news outlet from left to right recognizes that a Donald Trump Presidential bid is a joke.

Heard a few clips from his announcement last night.

It is obvious from his speech that he himself knows he's a joke.

He has stated that he knows how to handle ISIS, but is keeping it a secret. This line in and of itself proves he is not serious.

What is interesting to me is why someone with his money would do this. He already has weekly publicity time on Fox News. He already has weekly publicity time on his Apprentice TV Show.

Running for POTUS has been used for self-promotion before, but not usually by someone who already has venues available.
