New Russian Cruise Missile with EMP?
They don't discuss this warhead but they do mention the electrical grid.So if a push comes to a shove in the Ukraine this could be how they would attack us in retaliation. It's not going to be pretty with all the chess pieces they have to move around the globe now!

A defense official said the missile that concerns the Northcom commander is the Russian KH-101 cruise missile which Russia has developed as a weapon to attack critical infrastructure in the United States, such as the electrical grid.

True however an EMP bomb is not a nuclear bomb and would not kill off the population all at once but it would take down a modern society to a point where it could no longer have internal cohesion and kill off the weak,the sick and the old quickly.

I don't see any difference between EMP and a nuc.
And my thought is the leadership would see it as the same. We have enough boomers that would be unaffected and retaliation would final and effective.

If we got hit with an EMP it would be a disaster. It would put us back to about the year 1850. No cars or trucks would run. No electricity.
In 5 days, no food at the grocery store, no water.
Millions would die. It would be a calamity that would compare with nothing we have ever seen in this country.0 -

The radiation signature is the difference just like a tactical neutron bomb. It leaves the land and buildings to be habitable in a shorter time frame.
And who knows if our government entity would use nuclear bombs that effectively leave earth inhabitable for too long to spring back from the cusp of total destruction.

This is a good point. I remember Pop talking about patrolling off the coast of Europe on the USS Daniel Webster. He said that if a certain periodic signal was not received at a certain time, they were to launch their 16 Polaris missiles with nuclear warheads at pre-programmed targets.
