Kodiak .50 cal inline
I have the above which has been fired two years ago with no problem.
This year after being sure I cleaned it up last year [I did] it failed to fire. After screwing around removing the plug and triple7 plus bullet, twice and having the same issue, I bought new triple 7.
Same problem. I have two packs of 209 primers that were stored properly and tried both with failure.
Breach plug is clean, new triple 7 and no pop. Primers ignite but not the triple 7
Now, I stopped setting a bullet into the barrel until I got the triple 7 to fire. I loaded two triple 7 and rammed a small patch to hold tight as if it was a true black powder rifle.
Am I doing something wrong or does anyone have a clue what this problem is caused by????
Many thanks

I would get hold of a box of these first, see if they make a difference? Awful strange that they worked two years ago, but not now. Are you absolutely sure, that the priming channel between the cap and powder isn't obstructed?

yes
breach plug pulled cleaned and hole reamed and made sure unobstructed0 -
The only fake black powder I like so far is American Pioneer. 777 was very hard to light. I went to RWS musket caps which are hard to find before switching to AP, which works fine with regular caps.
So before loading, fire 2 or 3 of your primers to dry out the chamber and the plug. Rough up the side of the pellet that faces the primer a little with like the tip of your knife. The goal is to provide a fresh surface for the fire to strike.0
