Ruger Mark II Rear Sight Dovetail

Is the rear sight dovetail tapered? I plan on installing a red dot sight and the mount goes in the dovetail so I'll have to remove the rear sight. I know some are and some aren't.

  I would try drifting it to the right (ejection port side) first.

  Most all of them are slightly tapered left to right...meaning the way you are looking down the sights, drift it out from left to right, drift in from right to left.
