I am curious if anyone has tried to put an m77 22lr barrel on a 10-22 action? And will a 17m2 m77 barrel fit on a 10-22 action?

  You might consider contacting this outfit. They make replacement barrels, for all flavors of Rugers. They would be the ones who could tell you, if the Model 77/22 and 10-22 barrels are interchangeable.

  They will not swap between a 77/xx and a 10/22 without machine work. The barrel shanks are different lengths.

  yep the barrel shanks are longer and the 77/22 and 77/17 have two extractor grooves where the 10/22 only has one. I'm sure it can be done with the proper tools and enough money.

  Even if it fit, you do not want to do that. The 10-22 breech end is hardened so the bolt does not peen it. The 77-22 barrels are not.
