rem mod 7 ftf
My son took his model 7 in 243 deer hunting this weekend and had about 12 ftf, finally used my rifle to take a deer. Rifle just clicked at the pull of the trigger. Very light primer strikes, so it has to be a problem with the firing pin. Thing is the day before the hunt he fired six shots to check sight in with no problem. Any ideas?

Cold Temps and too much lube? 0 -
Never lube bolt very heavy and temps only varied about 10 degrees, probably will take the bolt apart and inspect. 0 -
Could be an ammo issue. +1 for take the bolt apart, clean and inspect the striker and spring plus the inside of the bolt. 0 -
Field stripped bolt. Quite a bit of old lube, cleaned firing pin assembly and bolt body then added a little clp breakfree for lube. Gun fired fine when shot. Now I'll wait till temps get 15 -20 and try again with several shots but I believe I found the problem. 0
