Savage 170 problem

Hi, How many rounds does the tube hold? Problem when you pump it, it drop a shell out the bottom. Any ideas on a fix.

lots of savage parts hand fitted to each gun so you may want to take to a competent gunsmith for repair, I would start by checking the cartridge stop ans so on..................
