Need Opinions on two Ruger Guns.
I'd like some opinions on the following Rugers I saw for sale at my local gun store.
1. Ruger No. 3 45/70. 95% overall. Very early gun that was NOT drilled and tapped for bases. Sling stud installed in buttstock, Aluminum buttplate and Lyman sights. Asking $600 OTD. Does not being drilled and tapped help or hurt the value?
2. Ruger Single Six in .32 Magnum caliber. Adjustable sight 6 1/2 inch barrel, blued. Excellent, about 98%. Actually looks almost like new. However, no box or papers. Asking $400.
I'm considering purchasing these. What do you think? Thanks for any replies.

I think the 32 is the better part of the deal. As for the number 3, it's still all original, and is to the eye of the beholder. If you're interested in both try to make a package deal. 0 -
32 for $400.00 is a BARGIN. $600 for the number 3 is tops. Try $900.00 for the pair. 0 -
TWalker,
The .32 deal is O.K.
The #3 is overpriced and I can guarantee you that it will beat the absolute stuffing out of you! I can speak from some significant experience on this topic.

I can vouch for what Nononsense is saying about the #3. Even with mild load, it will be brutal. A #1 in that chambering would be worth even a little more...it can be loaded up to almost 458 Winchester levels, or down as far as you want to go. I have several 45-70's, and love a load of 32 grains of IMR 4198 behind a 405 Hardcast Missouri Bullet Co, #1 Buffalo. It will get me out to about 1350 fps, and 400 yards with no problem on a 1 gallon jug, the majority of the time, in a couple rifles...A browning 1885 BPCR, and a Pedersoli Sharps 1874 Quigley model.
As for the Ruger Single six, that is a great deal!0 -
as above 900 OTD, buy them.[:)] 0 -
#3 in 45-70 was nicked named "Bruiser". This is from a guy that shot my 5.25# 45-350 Rem mag. once. 0
