You might consider transitioning to the GOOGLE Chrome operating system.
Everything is on/in the "cloud".
Been over 3 years for me so far. No problems at all. Every time I get attacked by these clowns, who threaten to lock up or destroy my data. Unless I send them a ransom payment. I just laugh, turn off the computer. Then turn it back on again, and they are gone.
Last time I had a Windows based computer. I had one of the big name, anti virus protection systems installed. All though it was a big time U.S. based company. Everything was actually run from India. They were crooked as sidewinders. Trying to get me to give up my credit card number, using all kinds of phony pretenses.
In the over 3+ years I've been using GOOGLE Chrome. Never needed virus protection, or had any of the other associated problems, that came with Windows or the Mac operating systems.0 -
I use Google Chrome almost exclusively. I also renew Kaspersky every year. Lately (last three or four years) I've had zero problems. The Kaspersky gives me a warning sometimes that the site I'm trying to contact has small problems and recommends I disconnect, which I do, and continue on with the contact. Ironically, the site I'm trying to contact is Google Chrome. 0 -
hillblade,
I prefer to err on the side of caution regarding warnings such as this. It's not the warning per se but the sequence that you have chosen.
I suggest alerting ADMIN by contacting and setting up a Support Issue and letting them investigate the problem first.
I will leave this open for the time being but if it degenerates into a complaint session I will delete the entire thread.

Question? Why would you need the Kaspersky anti virial protection. For the Chrome operating system. I have a bare bones Samsung laptop. Doesn't even have, a hard drive. Supposedly because everything Chrome, is on the cloud. No anti virial protection is necessary?0 -
Yea, been there, and the sirens and bells were so deafening and repetitious and so over blown you knew it was a hoax when the warning message of dire consequences appeared with their message and contact phone number for help.
Easiest fix was to:
1) Restore your system from a restore point/date where your system had no problems; and then 2) reset your security settings to medium high so you always get a warning before opening something questionable.0 -
Well, the main reason is that once or twice a year Kaspersky sends a viral message that the DOWNLOAD I'm trying to get is contaminated and refuses to let me open it. Whether its true or not I'm not going to argue with them, At $15 or $20 bucks a year for the Kaspersky I figured its just good insurance. 0 -

Forgot to mention, the Kaspersky does so much more than a firus protection, it automatically updates my data bases, has a Safe Money feature (which I don't use) can scan all the files you have,
and one or two features I don't use but nice to have in case they are needed. The updating of databases is particularly great to have.
No, I don't work for Kaspersky or sell their productsw.0 -
Focus! Focus!
To respond to hillblade's problem, it is unlikely that your computer was infected while "traveling through" a GB sellers store. We really can't figure out exactly what happened to you over this forum.
At this point, you need to have a computer expert look at your computer, & he may possibly recover your data. He can also analyze your operating systems, virus protection, & internet habits in order to prevent this from happening again.
The bad guys are out there, trying to hurt others or steal their data; it's not always possible to stay ahead of them.

So much for the Google Cloud thing. I had my computer locked up by some by who knows what last week. It wasn't on here but I'm not buying the no virus protection needed while using Chrome. Chrome is all I use. 0
