Savage 99A
Can the trigger pull on a Savage 99A(2nd make late 1970s - early 80s) be adjusted. I have one that the trigger is extremely stiff to pull back.

I don't think they came with an adjustable trigger. However, most triggers can be modified by a skilled person. It could be a DIY project but I suggest you source replacement parts before you attempt to lighten the pull. Get a bid from your local gunsmith, will be cheaper than buying new parts. Plus if it is really horrendous Bubba could have already worked on it, thus new parts could be required. 0 -
they are abit tricky and may or may not be able to be done and still be safe to use, early models are harder to do and remain safe to use while the newer models with tang safety can be done and still safe to use they are still abit tricky to work on, I would think you are best using an experienced gunsmith. 0 -

Look at a Numrich Arms schematic & you'll see the Savage trigger and how it works. Or, remove the stock and that gives a better view. The Savage trigger can be worked on, it's not terribly difficult. But it would be good to remember, given the mechanics and design, that you should look for accomplishing "doesn't stink" rather than an excellent, crisp pull. Or, you can buy a Winchester 88 - that sure made me appreciate the 99's trigger pull.[;)]0
