how do i remove Cad plating from hardware?
My understanding is that Muriatic acid will work. Can't seem to find what concentration to use. Straight out of the bottle seems way too extreme. Yes I am aware of the safety and disposal issues.

be very careful Cad is bad stuff 0 -
I use straight out of the bottle often for stuff. In fact I have never diluted if for anything. 0 -
Why remove the plating ? seems easier to buy unplated to begin with 0 -
Got 4 pieces from same place. 2 plated 2 not. Sometimes what I need doesn't come un plated. Used some straight on a bad concrete stain once. Wasn't the best idea on concrete. Aware of hazards. Rubber gloves, long sleeves and pants, do it outside. Lots of water nearby. Anyone else on dilution? 0 -
use 3 or 4 to 1 water to acid. pour acid slowly into water, hang your part on a piece of bailing wire, it will boil off the cad. I use this to remove galvanizing from pipe ftgs. 0 -
just to note; muratic acid is a very dilute hydrochloric acid mix, like maybe 10% to start.
EDIT; I just checked my 'jug' of muratic, 32% acid, 68% water0 -
Thanks, I will try 3 or 4 to 1. 0
