    Chip,

It left the factory with a 28-inch 1/2 octagon No. 4 barrel in 32-40, with a single-set trigger, a Swiss butt plate, and a mid-range vernier tang sight with a wind-gauge globe front sight.

    Thanks for information Bert,

That is pretty well as it sits, sights, trigger, butt plate,as you state, but I am pretty sure it was a full round barrel. I'll have to recheck.

How common are the #4 barrels.

    Thanks again

Approximately 15% of the Model 1885 high-walls were made with a #4 barrel. Thus far, I have recorded nearly 2,100 of them.

It is a full round barrel. The cartridge stamp and barrel weight stamp looked OK. But all after a quick look though.

But who knows where and when the barrel was changed and with what, just keep looking I guess.

    Thanks again Bert....................Chip
