Are they actually in the white. What finish are you trying to match brown, plum brown or blue? 0 -
Although I never heard of parts like that, actually being made of the alloy known as German Silver. Only the front sight, and patch boxes. There is always the possibility that somebody decided to make them out of German Silver?
As I recall German Silver had a yellowish cast to it. But I always thought it to be to soft. To be used for parts that were exposed to stress, like the trigger guard.0 -
Nickel silver, Mailechort, German silver, Argentan, new silver, nickel brass, albata, alpacca, or electrum is a copper alloy with nickel and often zinc. The usual formulation is 60% copper, 20% nickel and 20% zinc. Nickel silver is named for its silvery appearance, but it contains no elemental silver unless plated.
Use a magnet to check the parts. Steel is attracted to a magnet, German Silver is not.0 -
We need pictures to see what you have. Check out the "Sticky" above. You may have a Springfield 1863 that was "in the white"or some other gun that didn't have a brown or blue finish. Without seeing it or an excellent description, we can't tell what it should look like. 0
