Morning, Milo~
All the current variations use the same mag.. The new mags won't work in the earliest, first released Buckmarks- I'm thinking just the 1985 models.. I don't know the exact serial number range..
Rufe.. The newer mags wouldn't seat correctly in my older Buckmark.. Midway notes the difference in their description..

Before dismissing ill fitting mags ,compare the different mags with originals.
You may find a file stroke in the locking notch or feed lips may correct the problem.
I've Fitted unknown mags to P3AT,P11, Browning HiPower, Remington 51 and TT33s.0 -
When BAC brought out the Buck Mark, in the mid 80's. One of it' main features, to differentiate it. From it's immediate predecessor, the Challenger III. Was is it's button mag release, on the grip.
Far as I know, all Buck Marks made in the last 30+ years. Use the same magazines. With the button mag release.0 -

This problem is not universal with all Buck Marks. Although I agree, it can cause problems in certain individual pistols. The newer wide base plate magazines, on certain pistols. Prevents total actuation of the magazine safety feature. I had this specific problem myself on a Challenge, ( not Challenger), model. That was made in 2005.
The new wide base plates are MIM castings. If the are to thick they prevent proper actuation of the mag safety, on the newer models. As the older Buck Mark's don't have mag safetys. The only potential problem. Is if the top surface of the base plates. Hit the bottom of the grip in the older Buck Marks. A little Dremeling of the top surface of the new mags base plates. Will provide clearance so that they will work in the older Buck Marks.0 -

That's good to know.. At the time I had the problem, the correct mags were still available so I just reordered ,explaining what I was experiencing..0
