Bidding error
I have made two purchases on GunBroker and both were through stores that took credit cards. This was my mistake not looking closer but I bid on a gun and am currently the high bidder, but then realized he didn't take credit cards and wants a money order. I don't have the cash and that is why I wanted to put it on CC. He won't answer my emails as I have tried to get this resolved before it becomes a problem if I actually win the auction. Any ideas? I makes me even more worried that he only has 6 transactions and won't respond.

Is there a way to correct an obvious error? a bidder accidentally hit an extra digit- making his bid in thousands instead of hundreds.
How can I help him to correct this?0 -
Purchase a money order at your bank with the card. 0 -

Still a little worried that he won't answer my emails. Feel a bit shaky about sending him thousands of my dollars if he can't answer an email.0 -
If you have his contact info or if he has a store front business, get his phone number. Check his latest feedback to see if there were any seller/buyer problems. Look at any other auctions he has going on => he's still around and doing business on GB. Google his store front business address and if he's business, see if there are any reviews of the business.
Don't know what else you can do. That email silence could mean anything. I get this all time when asking questions. Accepting only money orders, especially USPS ones, might imply the seller got burned in the past.
We've all been there.
Hope this helps you.0 -
Not answering e-mails from the top bidder. On a very expensive item, would cause me conniptions, if I was that bidder.
I wouldn't be sending any funds, until you would be able to get all your ducks in a row with this guy.
Not responding is not a positive sign, IMHO.0 -
Be careful pal, sounds like you might be'drooling'over the deal and that is a good way to get burnt. IMHexperiencedO. 0 -

You'll pay dearly for a cash advance on a CC....Not sure if GB can track an email sent thru them or not.0 -
Hate to preach, but... Shopping for expensive items when you don't have the funds to pay is a dangerous way to live. It is far better to delay the satisfaction of getting a new "whatever", save up your money, then go shopping. It is far less stressful. Best of luck in the future. [:)] 0 -
Some guys go on vacation and leave their auctions run but they usually put a note on there auction that they will be gone until a certain date. In your case I would not send any funds until you can get a reply and come to a agreement. In my experience if the person does not communicate with you in a timely manner it will end badly.
As a side note, I don't understand the younger generation buying everything on credit with no cash to back it up.0 -
A bid is a contract you bid you pay by the rules set by the seller if you win bid and don't pay with the limited number of sales you have made you most likely will be blocked on bidding in future or your
account may even be closed There is no rule the seller must answer emails but he must send address on where to send the funds at that time I woulds ask about how you can pay him & explain your mistake. the receiving FFL dealer must also set the rules some will only accept Payment and your shipping address from another FFL dealer You need tostep back and read the rules on both selling and buying or you will be setting your self up for more trouble you send funds to a FFL that wont take money from non ffL DEALER HE MAY JUST SET ON YOUR MONEY RULES ARE THERE TO PROTECT BOTH SELLER AND BUYER0
