Need info on marlin 120 12 ga. 40 inch barrel.
Cant find my gun book, but I thought I read on a marlin model 120 40 inch barrel you add 10 or 20% to the price if it has a 40 inch vent rib barrel, Had someone tell me they didn't make a 40 inch vent rib barrel, because they hadn't seen one, I have only seen pics of two with the 40 inch vent rib barrel, and that was on GunBroker.I said they made one with the vent rib.

Guntraders Guide lists a 40 inch plain. 2010 Standard Catalog of Firearms shows barrels up to 40", and adds 10% for a 36" "Long Tom" barrel. 0 -
Must be a holdover from the black powder punt guns. Nitro powder is burnt by about 18" in a shotgun - I guess being nearly 2' closer to the bird helps some. 0 -

Marlin also made a bolt action Goose Gun during that time frame. The barrel was shorter than 40" though. If you really wanted to reach out, it could be had in 10 gauge.
Never knew that they sold a pump goose gun, with a 40" barrel?
