Ruger SP 101 Hammer
I am thinking of making my pistol "hammerless".Where could I buy such hammer and would this be feasible for a DIY? Thanks.

I think hammers are factory fitted parts from Ruger.
Ask them, I'd think they would fit a new "spurless" one and also return the regular one.0 -
The last SP 101, I owned. I cut the hammer spur off with a dremel. Be careful if you do the same. Lay out the cut. before doing it with a Sharpie. So you have enough stock left to blend in the sharp edges. Make it look like a pro job. Not something bubba did when he was drunk. 0 -
I second what Rufe is saying, and would like to add, be prepared to add more mainspring. Sometimes cutting weight off the hammer reduces the inertia enough, that you get light primer hits, and need a heavier spring.
I have done this before for customers with S&W's, Taurus, and Ruger's, while doing that, I put in a heavier main spring, and do a complete double action tuning...when I am done they are slicker than silk thongs.0 -
I bobbed a Chief hammer and got too light hammer strikes with the std factory hammer spring.
Wolf springs sells heavier springs.0
