1. Measure the distance from the end of the cocking lug to the start of the 'slot'( not including the firing pin stop/retainer).
Answer .056"
2. Measure the length of the 'slot' ,,,,,,,,
Answer .398"
3. Measure from the end of the 'slot' to the breach face ,,,,,,,,,
Answer .712"

How much variance do you have between the back of the slide and back of frame
Answer No hang over of either
Did you use a so called drop in barrel Answer Old Stock/New Colt Barrel

disconnector 'marks' into the slot.
Answer After disconnestor marks slot the mark is about centered Having .034" unmarked at front and back

Without 'hands on' exam I'm starting to lean toward different manufacturing tolerances between frame and slide.
Answer ... May be the reason it was at Knobb Creek/Fort Knox MG shoot Vendors Row.

Does your barrel 'link down' within 3/8" of the slide being moved to the rear ?
Answer Yes it links down within 3/8" travel.

  I did the 3/8" wood block test and the result is that the middle of the hammer shank is resting on the bottom of the firing pin stop/retainer without ever touching the firing pin.

  'depth' of the the paddle only,,,,,,top to bottom is .154"
  
  thickness of the paddle,,,,,,,front to back .033"
  
  thickness(front to back) of the 'sear legs .092"

  If at any time you want to quit I will certainly understand.
  I had no idea and do not want to impose on your time..

  That did it! With the adjustment and stoning of the spring fingers the pistol will now disconnect within the 1/4" rearward travel of the slide.
  Next step, test firing. Any recommendations?
