    I don't know about yours? But the $2000 one on the auction. Looks like, a shade tree bubba, butcher job to me.

    Don't recall seeing any 71/84 carbines in the past? But the 71 carbines, had stocks to the muzzle. With front bands and barrel protectors.

    I don't recall ever seeing any, of the authentic German 19th Century military rifles, with cut down stocks.

    Thank you, mine is definitely a modified 71/84 with the six round magazine and a 24 inch barrel. Mine does not have the spoon bolt. I suspect when they were selling the originals back 50+ years ago, some enterprising soul like Golden State Arms, bought a bunch of them and cut them down. That would also explain the mismatched stock on mine. I bought mine as a shooter, except for the modifications it is in virtually new condition. Ed
