Might give the customer service folks at Brownells, a call. They always have been helpful, when I called. They have a extensive inventory of mounts and bases. Along with reference material, to tell you which specific ones are required.

I'd go with one of those long brass numbers. If I ever get one of those Quigley Sharps that's the way I'd go.

    W92fan,

I personally avoid anything from Leupold because they are overpriced and under delivered.

If you want the best design for your rifle, here is the Winchester product just for the 1885:

    Model 1885 Steel Bases

Specifically made for the 1885. Precision machined steel.

Solid as steel. That's because they are. And the one piece design is rigid. Very rigid. The Model 1885 Single Shot's uniquely short receiver demands a system that locks down scope mounting in the most solid way possible This base does it like no other. These steel one-piece bases are for use with Model 1885 rifles and Winchester\Talley Style Steel Scope Rings. These baes are proven in long range accuracy shooting and help you get the most out of your exceptionally accuracy 1885 Winchester.

High and Low Wall bases differ. Consult your dealer to assure you buy the correct base for your rifle.

    Best.
