1894 Winchester
Will the bolt out of a 1894 made in let's say 1920? fit in one made in 1895? And are they different for each cal.?

Hello,
I have a model 1894 Winchester carbine with the stam 30 W.C.F. I have never fired the weapon and would like to know its value. It has a saddle ring knob on the side opposite the loading sleeve. This lever action is a good looking item with the serial number # 842015. Can you tell me anything about it and the types of ammo recommended for it.
Thank You,
Frank0 -
I am not sure when they changed the formulation, but I have never known Winchester to "Rust Blue" the 1894's. That is a process that is reserved for more upscale, and much lower production numbers...Like the Model 21 shotgun barrels, perhaps.
What you are looking at is at a $250.00-350.00 shooter, as it retains no original finish.0 -

Well that did not work. It has sold anyway but the number shown is on Gunauction 0 -
Winchester did not "rust" blue the receiver frames on any Model 1894. They did rust blue the barrels and magazine tubes until they made the change to Proof Steel barrels in 1932.
Serial number 3195957 is a Model "94", and it was manufactured early in the year 1969. So yes, it is in the range of years when the bluing did not adhere very well to the sintered steel receiver frames. The years 1964 - 1977 were the bad years.
I am speechless that someone would actually pay that much for it [:0][:0]0 -

I have a 1936 era carbine it has original rust blued barrel and magazine. I had always read they were still rust blueing through the late 1930's around 38/39 before changing over to du-lite hot blue
I've seen a number of bolt bodies rust blued as well that were original finish . You can always spot them if you look under bolt in the corners often finish fades to white just like muzzles on Winchester barrels are always in the white when rust blued.0 -
guess I need to invest in moderate engraving training to work up some moderate added value to a few rusted guns in the stable. 0 -
$1400 Too bad bubba owns a poor fitting screwdriver. Sad the OE didn't work in the screws or at least index them. 0 -

Well, the autocensor removed the name of the GUN AUCTION web site name from the pictures' URLs.
