30 Carbine ammo
Anyone know for sure if this stuff is corrosive?
I suspect it is, but not sure. Headstamp is LC52. I think its a Korean copy of our Lake City ammo.

Hungarian, according to headstamp site. Fairly recent but they don't note if it corrosive?
"M?travid?ki F?mm?vek, H-3332 Sirok, Hungary, for: Armscorp USA Inc., Baltimore MD"0 -
Armscorp of Baltimore closed > 20 years ago, so, if you don't speak Hungarian.....there's no one to ask.
In the 80's & 90's German-made GECO .30 cal carbine ammo was readily available & was high quality & non-corrosive. You wouldn't think that, at that time, anyone would think that you could get away with selling any carbine ammo that was corrosive.
Only one way to be sure....

This is Chinese and like French carbine ammo is corrosive. 0 -
Agree: Red Chinese, corrosive, Berdan primed, gilding-metal-coated steel jacket on bullets, deliberately false headstamp. Ammo was supplied to Communist insurgents in Phillipines 0 -
US Made carbine ammo was never marked "7.62". Yes, Chinese. Yes, corrosive. Betcha primer is a flat brass primer. 0 -
Go ahead and enjoy it. Just remember to give the gun an appropriate cleaning afterward. [:)] 0 -

Carbines have a internal floating chamber, that are not meant to be disassembled by user. Very difficult to clean, because of this. This is why all U.S. carbine ammo, from beginning of production was non corrosive.0 -
The short-stroke piston is the biggest concern with corrosive ammo in the .30 M-1 carbine. As noted above they are not meant to be user serviceable and are hard to remove - taking a special wrench. I would say stay away from it there is too much danger of doing irreparable damage. 0 -

I have the piston nut wrench and GI bore cleaner for corrosive ammo, so I will use the ammo. I have 1000rds of it and it would be a shame to trash it. Might also use some soapy water down the bore too.0
