Only way, is to buy a parts kit that has been previously registered with the feds. The law was changed in 1986 to prohibit new manufacture of selective fire firearms, and components of the same.

Do to the laws of supply and demand. Over the last 30+ years, this has caused the price of legal selective fire firearms. And parts like auto sears and lighting links to skyrocket.

As mentioned, the cut of date for registering new MGs and/or MG conversion kits (such as the kit used to convert an M1 carbine to M2) for private sales ended in May, 1986. If the kit was not registered prior to May, 1986, it cannot be registered now.

Understand that what many people consider to be MG conversion kits are in fact just a collection of parts. If the installation of these parts requires any modification to the host firearm's receiver (that would include the drilling of a single hole in the receiver) then you do not have a conversion kit.
