Color case hardened action screws 1894 Winchester
Has anyone seen color cased action screws on any Winchester lever?
Recently saw a deluxe that apeared to have faint color case action screws .Rifle was factory engraved bright blue receiver color case lever and hammer. All screws are mottled blue straw grey color.

The screws were not color case finished. Originally they were blued. Because they are the physical high points on the side of the receiver frame, the bluing wears off of them faster than anywhere else on the receiver, and they very quickly look exactly as you have described. 0 -
On the 73's the screws were finished to match the finish of the gun. If its was a case hardened receiver and butt plate, it had case hardened screws. If it was nickel or silver plated the the screws were plated but On a gold plated gun the screws were cased at least the one I examined.

Bob,
The same is true for the Model 1894, but with just a total of (157) special ordered case color finished Model 1894s made, they are ultra rare (.00004447%). 99.9999% of the first 354,000 Model 1894s made were blued, and the screws used in the receiver were also blued.0 -
So an early deluxe 1894 probably well could have been special ordered with case hardened screws if someone desired correct? 0 -
This 1894 deluxe is pretty much as new condition, all screws are straw or mottled blue that look like the standard color case Winchester used especially the stock tang screw. Not mine.

No... only if the entire receiver frame was case color finished. Case color finished screws were not a special order feature unless the entire receiver frame was case color finished.0 -

Those screws were blued, and now with the bluing worn thin. If you want to prove it to yourself, pull the upper tang screw and look at the entire length of it... it will be blued.0 -
Not my rifle ,wish it was.[;)] thanks for the info 0
