Saint Hubertus was the patron saint of hunters, among other things. Very popular in Europe. Represented by a Stag with a cross in it antlers. If your familiar with the German boose called Jagermeister. It's the trademark, on all their labels.
At least one German gun maker used Hubertus, as the trade name on their guns. I can't find any butt plates with the stag marking. But because the image, was so popular with hunters over there. Don't doubt, that it was also used on butt plates.0 -

I am sure if you contacted the Autry museum they would tell you the make as they have Black Barts shotgun. 0
