What year did they come out with the 2 3/4" chambering and stop chambering them in 2 5/8"?

you mean the 2 9/16 0 -
Not sure exactly of what year it was, but you cannot go by that, to assess the length of your chamber. Some continued on with the 2 9/16" chambers for several years after that. 0 -
There is a bit of information here.

In order to find who was the "last" to use the short chamber you would need to research European gunmakers as there were/are many small shops as well as guild who continued to use short chambers.0 -

It would really help to know which Make & Model you are asking about [?]
For Winchester, the change from 2-9/16" to 2-3/4" varied by which specific model it was.0 -
Meant 9/16. I realize there was not an exact cutoff date. Just trying to get a general time frame. 0 -
For the Winchester Model 12, the change to a 2-3/4" 16-Ga shell was made in 1926. For the Winchester Model 97, they change was made in 1930. 0 -
The 16 Gauge Forum was a big help. 1930 seems to be the general time frame that I was looking for. Thanks for all the input. 0
