    Not sure exactly of what year it was, but you cannot go by that, to assess the length of your chamber. Some continued on with the 2 9/16" chambers for several years after that.

    In order to find who was the "last" to use the short chamber you would need to research European gunmakers as there were/are many small shops as well as guild who continued to use short chambers.

    For Winchester, the change from 2-9/16" to 2-3/4" varied by which specific model it was.

    Meant 9/16. I realize there was not an exact cutoff date. Just trying to get a general time frame.

    For the Winchester Model 12, the change to a 2-3/4" 16-Ga shell was made in 1926. For the Winchester Model 97, they change was made in 1930.

    The 16 Gauge Forum was a big help. 1930 seems to be the general time frame that I was looking for. Thanks for all the input.
