value of S & W
I HAVE A S & W MODEL NO. 1 THIRD TYPE WITH THE SPRING LOADED BARREL CATCH IN 70% OR BETTER CONDITION. I BELIEVE THE BORE HAS NO PITTING ALONG WITH THE CYLINDER FOR IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S LEAD RESIDUE WHICH IS A LITTLE CAKED IN. DOES Anyone know it's value. I DO NOT SEE DINGS OR SCRATCHES ON THE GRIPS ONLY A FEW MINOR SUPERFICIAL ONES AND THE GRIPS ARE ROUND NOT A FLAT BOTTOM.

The late Norm Flayderman in his "Guide"/collectors bible. Values them at between $225 & $1,500. Depending on barrel length and condition.
As over 130,000 were made, in total between 1868 and 1881. There not especially rare. Only the ones with the 2 11/16 barrel, in excellent condition. Likely would have top collectors value.0 -
I sold one last year that was all original and in good working order. Probably in the 50% finish range. It brought about $175 .
Without a good look at yours my estimate would be $200 to $250.
They are not rare.0
