Original factory oil
I have a stainless Colt Python that is 100% NIB from 1983 that I'm probably going to list. The gun has never been shot and still has the original factory oil on it on a few spots and cleans up very easily. If you were going to sell it would you leave it on, or wipe it off? There's not much on it, just in a few spots. Thanks.

I would leave it on, but if it shows odd in the pictures a explanation pointing to the spots of oil would be good.
For the big bucks it will go for as a collector, I think they will be giddy pointing out the factory oil. If a shooter buys it they will not mind wiping it off.0 -
What ^^^ he said. 0 -
The oil Colt uses breaks down & becomes gummy over time. I have had a couple of older Colts that would not function properly until I blasted them internally with solvent.
If it were me, I'd clean it & check it for function; I wouldn't want to have the buyer return it because it sticks.
I doubt that you will get less for a "Like New In Box" or "Almost New In Box" gun than for a "New In Box" gun, if you post great photos.
