mauser firing pin
Just got a #'s match gew98 but the tip is broken on firing pin. Is there anyplace that can weld and heat treat it so I don't have to use a replacement? Thanks.

I just aquired a 1895 DWM Mauser. I discovered that the firing pin protrudes beyond the bolt face. What is the fix...and where can I get another firing pin if needed?? Thanks! 0 -
NOT PRACTICAL...BUT YOU COULD JUST 'RE-TIP' IT 0 -
+1 for fix it. I have made several tips for broken firing pins. I fit them to the hole in the bolt. Music wire, drill rod or an aircraft bolt is good starting stock for the new tip. 0 -
Just get an imperial marked but non serialized pin. They broke parts and the armorers replaced them. No big deal on a FP. 0 -
jetmek,
Both suggestions will work. Years ago and days gone by, we always 'tipped' broken firing pins because it was just what was done.
Nowadays though I would tend to go with p3skyking and just use a new one without a serial number. Then when you wanted to sell the rifle just put the original pin back in the bolt body.
