M57 Tokarev conversion
I bought an M57 Tokarev but the 762x25 will not completely chamber. I suspect it has been converted to 9mm with new barrel & bushings but there are no barrel markings to confirm. A 9mm snapcap chambered, the trigger pulled & it extracted. Is this consistent with such a conversion? Is there any way to test short of pulling the trigger?

You should be able to tell a 30 cal. from a 9mm barrel by looking at it.

Put the bullet end of a 7.62 X 25 cartridge, into the front of the barrel. It should just enter, a little short of the rim. If it drops in clear to the shoulder of the cartridge. The barrel is 9mm. 0 -
Look in the end of the barrel where the cartridge goes. If you see a shoulder in the chamber, it's for the .30 caliber.
9mm doesn't have the shoulder.
Look in your 9mm and see the difference.0 -

Thank you, I'll try that0 -
They are pretty easy to change back to 7.62x25. I had a 9mm Norinco that I replace the barrel, barrel bushing, and mag w/ 7.62x25 parts and it ran just fine.
I bought the parts from:

Imagine you could find them on the auction side as well.0 -
Thank you. If it turns out to be 9mm, I will want to change it back, maybe sell the 9mm barrel & not net too badly. Thanks for the website--this is about 1/2 of price on auction sites.

It was 9mm. 9mm Corto is too weak for the slide spring at 95 grains.0 -
Thanks to everybody who contributed. It is, indeed, a 9mm barrel. Now I just need to find somebody to pull the trigger & confirm that it functions. Shouldn't be a problem, I'm in the south. 0
