Could be a changed ramp and be low temp silver soldered on.

Hi...There is no screw in place, and no evidence of any soldering either. BT

Have you removed the sight from the dovetail? Many front sight ramps hide the screw hole underneath the dovetail. I don't know what was "stock" on the 94 AE.

Hello....Yes, I have removed the sight from the ramp, and there is no screw evident there. That was my thought, too. BT

these are silver soldered in place, takes a lot of heat to remove.

Most likely a preformed piece of brazing alloy, or a pre determined volume of braze paste was sandwiched between the sight ramp and barrel. Then it was either torch heated, or most likely induction coil heated in a protective atmosphere, in a vacuum braze chamber to prevent oxidation.

    EDIT 1

Yes, it would have been done in that fashion, in the white. It made clean up of any flux used, that much easier. With the precise amount of braze material used, it would form a very small fillet of material between the two parent metals, to let the operator of the process know that the material flowed properly.

Hi....Another gunsmith that I know has also stated that he believes that Winchester brazed the ramps on, although he doesn't know the exact method that they used. He believes that it was done while the metal was still in the raw state, before it was blued. Cleanup and polishing was done, then the blue applied. Thanks to all who replied. BT
