If you don't want the gun for $500.00 I do.

I had a 12 GA. when they first came out. I was a teenaged waterfowler then. I loved the way it pointed and shot. I recall that 2 3/4 inch chambered barrels had two gas ports to cycle with lighter loads and the 3 inch chambered barrel had one gas port. They were interchangeable on the same gun. The 3 inch barrel would not cycle 2 3/4" loads reliably. Dirty gas ports would also cause ejection problems without frequent cleaning. On a rather pricey goose hunt to Canada, my safety would not snap back on after I shot unless I removed the trigger assembly. I switched to my backup Model 12 and sold the 2000. But that was just me. Probably could have given it a bit more effort. I have several friends who love them but emphasize the need for proper maintenance. I cannot comment to the value these days.

    Offered 400 then 450.
He values it at 700-750 and wouldn't budge off his 500 price.
I said that I understood and agreed with him.

Even though its not on my gotta have list.Being a 20ga. makes this one hard to walk away from.

    I may still get it.

    EDIT...
    got it.

The gas recoil system is a little more complicated than some..Be sure to clean and install in the proper sequence and do NOT lubricate. Mine has slogged through more duck hunting venues than I care to count and has never failed to function. Good luck.

Early on FLG got one in for short stroking. He wanted to enlarge the gas ports but called Browning first. They said "Oh, no, send it in and we will fix it properly."
When it came back it had, as he put it, "gas ports the size of my nostrils."
    Worked, too.
