My uncle recently passed away and today I was asked to invertory his gun collection. The only one that I could not come up with a price for was a Winchester model 55. Its marked model 55-Winchester-Nickel Steel-30W.C.F.. The ser # is 1006. My Ned Schwing collectors price & reference guide puts the date at 1925 and shows 20,580 made. Any idea on the value? TIA.

Your link doesn't work for me. It's the period at the end
No clue why anyone would want a single shot that fires from an open bolt.
It looks ok, better pictures would help you I think.0 -
Nice rifle. Easy to load and shoot single shot. I'm curious as to what it will sell for. I have no idea of the value. I'll be watching it for the duration...... 0 -
I have one. I collect single shot winchesters so it was a must have for me. $250 to $300 around here. Don't put your hand over the ejection port when firing. 0 -
It's like old Chevys,,, if you have a 56 & a 57, you really need the 55. 0 -
Marketing rationale was Safety - rifle had no magazine, and firing only from an open bolt meant that rifle was visibly either loaded with a single live round, and ready to fire, was empty, or had been fired.
Don't think they sold many.0 -
I thought I read that they made around 45,000 of these. 0
