Plated 1910 Winchester
I have a .401 WSL rifle, 4-digit serial number, that has a nickel-plated receiver & forend cap, gold-plated bolt and trigger group, and factory-blued barrel. What sort of variation is this?

I heard years ago that Babe Ruth used a 1910 for deer. The way it has been fancied up, might be his? 0 -
I am betting it made a great deer round out about 100-125 yards... 0 -
Tim is correct, a hundred yard gun, they where popular with bear hunters in this part of the country.

There were deluxe versions of the 1910, but those consisted of upgraded wood, checkering and gold plating was NOT on the options list! Cool guns though... Awesome period in firearms development where many operating systems were coming and going at a high rate. 0 -
I've always had an interest in one. I reload, what's it like getting components for the 401 or even the 351? 0
