Colt Python date of birth & grips??

    Looks like it was made in 1978.
    Walnut grips with about 50% checkering were standard at the time.
    Period grips have asking prices in the hundreds of dollars... but no bids in current auction side listings.
    Hope your purchase price reflected that.

    I got a pretty good deal. 6" barrel, blued for $900. It does have issues such as not original grips, one buggered screw head, some holster wear, and some pitting? spots here and there. Worst is a couple 1/4" spots light rust?? on left side barrel just before "Python" word and right after "357". Still it is a Python and I love Colts.
    Would love to find a pair of original style wood grips but most are priced out of my range. Will just have to be patient and hope one comes my way.
