  Back in the 50's/60's time frame. Very realistic replica guns were made in Japan. From Zinc die castings. So realistic, the Japanese government passed laws restricting there manufacture.
  
  From Carbine 100's link. It's possible, your grips came off one of these Japanese Non Guns. As they are known to U.S. collectors.
