I have purchased recent (last couple of months) Blackhawk and Single Six with no locks. Lock is an external pad lock. 0 -

Did you remove the grips and look at the frame? You need to drill a hole through the grips to use the lock (yeah, right!).0 -

Grips and grip frames on both were removed for custom fitting grips. No lock, honest.0 -
it looks like the serial numbers that begin with 510 have locks. The 511 Im not sure. The 512 do not. As of 2009 Ruger eliminated the locks. 0 -
I've got one in the SN 512 series. Did not remove the grips to look but if there is an internal lock, Ruger did not send the key. Only a padlock in the package. 0 -
