ar sight issue
Howdy I have a 16" carbine with standard factory gas block/front sight and I have a Magpul flip up rear sight. The issue I am running into is, during sighting in the rifle at 100yds I haft to run the front sight all the way up where just a few threads is still holding it in. Has anyone run into this problem before if so what is the fix for it?

Screw it in a few turns and zero the rifle at 200 or 300 yards. Adjust your point of aim (Tennessee Elevation). 0 -
Are you sure you have the correct height rear sight? There are a couple different heights made to correspond with the standard gas block sight, and one to correspond with a Picatinny rail mounted front sight. If you have the taller one, it will be an issue.
Is the rear sight elevation turned all of the way down? Your rifle should be approximately 1.5-2.0 inches low at 25 yards0 -
I'm thinking the gas block is the issue. Either way you look at it you're going to raise the sight and lower the other. I think getting the taller front sight is easier than the other.
A friend o' mine did the reading on this. Dude wanted one of those and read the gas block is lower so he needed the "special needs" front sight. Since I had no interest I stopped listening about there.0 -
the rear sight is the Magpul moe 0 -
Is the elevation on your rear sight adjusted all the way to the bottom? If it is not, try that first.
EDIT 1
Because of the lack of adjustment in your rear sight, you have two choices. First being a taller front sight pin to lower your point of impact. The second is to get a different rear sight that does have elevation adjustment.
You never said how much "high" your rifle is shooting at 100 yards. 2-3 inches would be acceptable for a sight of the type you have.0 -

with the front sight pin all the way out it still shoots 12-16" high0 -
Get a usgi carry handle. It will match up with the gas block front sight as designed.
There are usgi carry handles on the auction side.0
