Browning Hi-Power made in Belgium
Hello all,
I have a 9mm Hi-Power marked "Browning Arms Company Morgan Utah and Montreal PQ MADE IN Belgium.
I have had this pistol over 30 years and hardly shot it. It is in very nice condition, some minor scratches. Its an accurate shooter.
I suspect it was not assembled by Browning for two reasons, one is that the serial number is stamped vertically into the front of the grip and begins with a "B", example: B296**. The serial number is not stamped anywhere else.
Two, there is what I think of as an import mark in the bluing on the frame, it says "Concorde Arms Valencia CA" on the right side of the frame. No numbers anywhere else on the frame, barrel, or slide. It seems really well put together.
I called Browning, but the regular tech guys didn't have the answer and the specialist is out of the office.[img][/img]
Any ideas on the origins of this pistol, or it's value for selling purposes?

We need a lot more information on the pistol before anyone can start talking value: Is it a ring hammer, spur hammer, walnut stocks, plastic stocks, blue finish, enamel, visible extractor...You tell us.0 -
I have a book on H-P's. "FN Browning Pistols" by Vanderlinden.
The serial number was moved to the grip in 1971. But the number you gave, is not found on H-P's sold in the States, by BAC. During this time frame.
Believe your H-P is a gray market gun. Imported by this Concorde Arms, of Valencia CA.
I was collecting, during that time frame back in the 70's. H-P's were very hard to come by, and were big ticket items because of this. I could see, gray market guns bought in Europe. Being sold at a very healthy mark-up here in the States.
I don't know if being a gray market H-P, imported and sold by Concorde Arms. Would affect it's collectors value, one way or another?
EDIT #1
The high front sight and adjustable rear. Aren't factory original. Will have a negative affect on collectors value.0 -
Okay, got the pics figured out. I will post a picture of the extractor side (right side) tomorrow when I am back home.
