Smith & Wesson Hand Ejector
I have a S&W Hand ejector that is marked 38 Mil. as the caliber. Serial # 787XX Is this a 38 Long Colt? The chambers are not cut straight through like the older Colts. I have had others that specifically listed the caliber as 38 S&W Special and US Service Ctg. Also what is the date of manufacture.

M&P serial numbers started 73251 in 1906 so you probably have a 1906 or 1907 gun.
I am not an expert on all the marking variations but I would expect a M&P that late to be .38 Special. ".38 Mil" sounds odd, though. Got a picture?0 -
I looked up your revolver in the SCSW. That barrel marking is found on U.S. Navy, .38 Long Colt Revolvers. Made in the early 1900's. The serial number on the Navy revolvers, are over 50,000 lower than your serial number.
Either your barrel was a over run, that S & W utilized years after the U.S. Navy contract was completed. Or it was swapped out, by a previous owner or gunsmith. Many years ago.0
