conversion .243 - .22Lr
howdy folks..
i've got this notion of converting a 700 rem. .243. i had the barrel spun off already i'd like to make a .22 long rifle..i found i can buy a bolt from ptg company that fits a 40x rem
my question is do i have to do any machine work to get the said bolt into the 700 action.... ?
also open to suggestions
thanks in advance

I would say impossible, assuming you mean the 40XR bolt for 22LR, which is completely different from a M700 or 40X center fire bolt. The 40XR locks up at the lug wells of the 40XR receiver bridge - rear portion of the receiver. Google some images of the Remington 40XR and see if there any close up images of the bolt and you'll understand better. 0 -
Ok..thanks like I said it was a notion
didn't think about the lugs pretty clear now [:I]
