1894 Winchester take down
I have a 1894 32 Caliber take down that is a little loose in the take down area. I see there is three screws under the fore arm but they are tight. Is there a procedure to make the fit a little tighter or should I return the gun>

In order to tighten the take down fit, you need to tighten all three of those screws. As they tighten, they each create a small dimple on the opposite side of the take down plate. Since you will be displacing some metal, they can be quite difficult to turn. I suggest you remove them first to make sure they are not rusted in place, add a bit of lube to the threads then use a screw driver that exactly fits the slots.
This is a rather crude method of adjusting the fit but it is what it is. If you use the take down a lot, the dimples will quickly wear requiring another adjustment. After a few rounds of this you will no longer be able to push the dimples out any farther.
A few Winchester take downs were made with the extension plate properly machined to fit the receiver, and no adjustment screws. I have two of these, both of which have numerous special order features so obviously the buyers were willing to pay a bit more for a more quality gun.0 -
