I have a lyman sight with a A on the underside. I found it was a No.2 Combination Tang Third Variation but I could not find out what gun it would fit.

    U was a Remington #4 code. I'm not familiar with a #38 sight.

U in molds was Undersized, often meant to be shot as cast not sized.

So I looked in my all things Lyman book. The 38 is a windage adjustable 21. The 21 was developed for use on the model 95 Winchester, which is all I have ever seen them mounted on.

Post some good pic's. Directions here. http://forums.GunBroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=259294

U is the mount code which should be the Remington model 4 based on Lyman information covering year 1898 thru 1955
