I don't know if he is lying or just ignorant, but he is definitely wrong. About 40 years out of date for one thing.

The only .303 with a scope was the No 4 Mk I T sniper rifle. Which is very distinctive and now quite valuable.

ETA: I have found pictures of No 4 Mk I (T) rifles with modern Weaver scopes substituted for the WWII No 32 scope.
All original from the war? Still not.

During WW2 Weaver manufactured many of their 330 series unsealed 2.2x scopes (330, M8, & M73B1) for the US War Dept, but they could barely keep up with demand. Due to critical shortage of optics, none were available for the Allies.

EDIT: I believe SS is correct. See Standard Catalog of Military Firearms by Ned Schwing.

Hey, I have a British Enfield with a Weaver 4x Microtrac scope.
I bought the scope new in 1982 and put it on the 303 myself. The scope hadn't been out long when I bought it. Unless WWII ended in the 80's, the scope is definitely post-war.

    Got it.
    P 14 (T), after 1926 No 3 Mk I* (T)
Doesn't have a Weaver scope, either.

Brits had scoped 303's in Korea.
We had one but I had no interest or recollection of the scope brand.
