What sort of Mauser do I have?
I thought it was a 8mm Polish Wz 29, but now I'm thinking maybe it's Czech. The receiver is blank and doesn't look like it ever had a crest. The hand guard has three dowel reinforcements, which I think is a Polish trait.

I thought it was Czech at first?( Because of the "Z") But Balls's Mauser book, said that the Poles also used a "Z" but inside a triangle, not a circle.
After the war, Czechoslovakia was in bad shape. They needed money, and cranked out as many Mausers they could. To anybody who had the money to buy them. Wasn't aware that the Poles were in a similar position, to do the same. Being occupied by the Russians.
EDIT #1,
Believe that the "Circle Z" marking, dates to the years after 1948. When the communists, came into power in Czechoslovakia. The firearms factories and arsenals, lost their individual identities. All became "State Enterprises", and used that "Circle Z" marking.
Had a 16 gauge semi-auto shotgun, with the the Circle Z marking, years go.0 -

Done snow blowing but I'm tired and can't hold the book without hands cramping. How is the bore?

Something unique to Polish Mausers is the little dot shaped hump on the ejector box.0 -

The bore is surprisingly good, if just a bit dark nearer the muzzle. The lands and grooves are nice and strong.
Thanks everyone. I am now convinved that it is a Wz 29 Karabinek Mauser rifle "Infantry Model" (straight bolt handle) and was built in Poland under contract for Spanish (Loyalist) Republicans between 1930-1937.
