Can a winchester model 12 12 gauge 2 3/4" chamber be modified ( have chamber lenghtened) to shoot 3" shells
The reason i ask is i own a model 12 roit gun (watts commemorative edition[:D]) which is in like new condition. I would like to purchase a extra barrel/ mag, forearm which i see a lot of on ebay. I would like to have a spare duck gun realize the new set up will have to be fitted .What i really wanted was a 12 heavy duck
    thanks rp

If the problem is intermittent I'd be looking at the ammo first and making sure that I pulled the slide all the way to the rear every time.

What are you using for ammo? Cheap promo, mix and match, reloads?
If the gun is clean and functional (not worn out) I tend to suspect ammo with an intermittent failure such as that.

I mostly hunt with Winchester high brass super x , Its not in the ammo because it will also do this when working the action unloaded

Before I took a matching pre 64 and mixing parts, I would contact Stu Wright in Illinois. He is supposed to be The Man on M12s.

Yep, you need to get the M12 to someone that knows what they are doing, not a Bubba Jake Leg.
I've shot M12's for years and can shoot them fast than a auto, smooth as silk.

When the gun is assembled, how tight is the barrel to the receiver? Are you able to move, or twist the barrel slightly when it is assembled? If that's the c might need to take up the barrel a few notches. If you have problems with it, and can't get it fixed, shoot me an email and I think that I can head you in the right direction.

I can move the barrel very slightly with it assembled, I'd say about 1/32" of movement
