H380
What do you load with H380? I know about 22 Hornet, 223 and the like, wonder if anyone uses it in any thing else.

It was named for using 38.0 grains in the 22-250. I know a couple people that use it for the 243 and 257 Roberts. 25-06, 270 & 7mm-08 as well. It also works pretty well with 117g bullets in the 25-35. 0 -

H380 would be a terrible choice for the Hornet and 223 Rem.
H380 is a good choice for the 22-250 and 220 Swift.0 -

Maybe just slightly less than "terrible" but certainly far below optimum. More suitable for overbore cartridges IMHO.0 -
H-380 is a very adaptable powder running from the 22-250 through the 458 Win. mag. 0 -
Thanks for all the answers. I've got a 257 Bob, but it's a pre 64 model 70 and I don't shoot it much. I do however have a custom Mauser actioned 250-3000 Savage that I shoot a lot with 100 grain bullets, it has a 26" Shilen barrel. I've been loading H4895 in it, but thought I'd see if the H380 would work. Haven't consulted my books yet.

Some of my favorite .257 Robt. loads start with H380. My Ruger 77 will digest a number of different powders but H380 is one of the few that my Flaig's Arisaka will tolerate. 0 -
Needs a magnum primer. I dont like H380. It should be discontinued like H450 was. IMO. 0 -
Never found a need for magnum primers with H380 in my 'Bob.

As I've said, I don't shoot my Bob much, I do shoot 22-250, 250-3000 and 264 Win Mag. I'm thinking it may work in these calibers.

This is what the Hodgdon website says about H-380.
"This was an unnamed spherical rifle propellant when the late Bruce Hodgdon first used it. When a 38.0 grain charge behind a 52 grain bullet gave one hole groups from his 22 caliber wildcat (now called the 22-250), he appropriately named the powder H380. H380 is also a superb performer in the 220 Swift, 243, 257 Roberts and other fine varmint cartridges. Available in 1 lb. & 8 lb. containers."0 -
Very Temp sensitive on hot days with near max loads in the varmint class ammo. I still like it for my 22-250. 34.5gr with a 55gr bullet keeps me in a good working zone. 0 -
I use H380 in my 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser AND 7.65 x 53 Argentine Mauser. 0 -

Update,
Finally got my 338-06 done, was looking at my bullet supply and found some 250gr Nosler Patricians. Looked in the Nosler book and it shows the most accurate load is with H380. The test barrel was 24" long with 1 in 10 twist. That is what my barrel is, so, I'm going to load all 3 listing and see how it works.
