Reloading 5.45x39
Had a thought the other day that I never see any info about this one. Got out the Lee book and the Lyman book, and I can't see any mention of loading this one. Searched for dies, and I think it was only RCBS that has some. Is this caliber not reloadable for some reason? Or do people just use the cheap steel case ammo?

I think you should look harder. My newer Lyman book has data. The online folks have data. I'm sure every die maker produces a set. You can even get the Lyman 310 set with a new made correct priming die and rest being 300 Savage to make a functioning tool.
Cast bullet choices leave a little to be desired but AK and SKS aren't known to be tack drivers. I have no use for either or an AR for that matter.
I pick the Boxer primed brass and give to a buddy, the Berdan primed brass goes in the scrap bucket.
added I guess I should look harder, I read it as the regular Russian not the 220 one.0 -
Midway had some 5.45(.220-.221) bullets in a "blem" sale a while back. Even the high end RWS ammo has steel cases and I've not actually seen any brass cased 5.45.
There is some brass available that can be re-formed but IMHO, it's not worth the trouble.
I just bought excellent ammo for under $19/50 rounds. At that rate, I'm not messing with reloading.0
